Mountain and sea join in a sublime union in these lands conquered by Alexander the Great. The Akdag and Beydaglari massifs are part of the majestic Taurus chain, with their slopes sometimes arid, sometimes green, and their high peaks covered with snow for a good part of the year.
On this coast which has seen so many civilizations pass by, apart from the astonishing spectacle of a clear sea that hits the steep cliffs, you will discover the archaeological riches, which go back up to three thousand years, from the Greco-Roman cities well preserved and Lycian necropolises lost in the vegetation or immersed at the bottom of a turquoise sea.
In antiquity the name “Lycia” meant “The land of light” and its inhabitants, the Lycians, were famous for the importance they placed on the independence of their freedom. And in this specially concocted circuit, it is this feeling that will bewitch you. It is ancient Lycia that you will discover here, with its ancient cities (Caunos, Ikaros, Pinara, Kekova, Simena, Phaselis), its famous rock tombs dug into the cliff, its mountains which flow into the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean, its beaches and small coves. The boat allows us, over two days, both to take a cruise in this idyllic part of the coast and to discover paths at the bottom of the bays, where the road does not reach (in the Gulf of Gocek and on the remains of the island of Kekova).
But it is on foot, equipped with a backpack and good shoes that we will hike on paths on the mountainside with a pleasant view of the sea, and on archaeological sites, with the privilege of entering the scenery. of those that are only accessible on foot. All in the atmosphere of a very strong warm contact with the Turkish population: competence and sympathy of the local team, the hospitality of the inhabitants of the villages we cross and the shepherds who live with their families in isolated dwellings, far from civilization.
